Google Maps

Google Maps is a great feature to use when you are looking for a location or you are trying to get directions. All you have to do is type in what you are looking for in the search bar and it will pinpoint your location and give you directions. You can also print out the directions. You can search anywhere from your house and to another country!

Symbaloo

Symbaloo is a great website to use because you can put tiles on the sites that you visit most. There is a big Google tile in the middle so you can search something quickly and way easier. You can personalize your Symbaloo too!

Google Job Search

Today I visited a site that had a bunch of Google openings. Google is made out to be a really fun and a good working location. Most of the qualifications that you need are minimal. You can also, working for Google, work  in a different country, even on a different continent! That feature is cool because you can visit a place of the world you've never been to, or that you've just heard about, and be working at the same time! Here are some of the jobs that are offered.

Google Drive

Today I messed around with Google Drive. I think it's a good website because you can share projects and spreadsheets with other people. I find it very useful and I hope you do too!

Annimating Text

Today in Computer Essentials class we learned about how to animate text. We explored two websites. They were FlashVortex and GlowText. On both of those websites you can create banners to say whatever you want it to. GlowText is fun to me because every one of the fonts glow. It's really simple to use too! FlashVortex is also interesting because you can customize your own clock! You can also do banners and type whatever you want. You can change the colors too!
This is my example of animated text.

Google Tricks

One of the cool tricks I found on Google was the Barrel Roll, this trick, you go to Google and type in do a barrel roll, and it does just that. Another trick I found on Google was rainbow effect. It makes the Google home-screen change colors. One of the funnier tricks I found, was one on Chuck Norris. If you Google Chuck Norris, it comes up as Google won't search for Chuck Norris because it knows you don't find Chuck Norris, he finds you.

Add-ons

Today in class we explored Firefox add-ons. Below I have listed 10 add-ons that all high school students should have.

1) Pocket. This add-on lets you view a web-page at any time, even if you have no internet connection.
2) Gmail. This add-on lets you see all of your unread mail. It's good so if teachers email you you'll see it right away.
3) Dictionary. I think this add-on is useful. All you do is highlight a word and double click to see the meaning.
4) Fonts. I like this one, personally, because you can change the color, the size, and the font of your Firefox.
5) The calculator add-on is good so you can do quick math.
6) The translator add-on is good for any students that are taking any foreign language classes.
7) Any of the game add-ons are good for high school students for a little break when they are doing work.
8) Adblock is a good add-on to have to block all of the adds that could pop up on your screen.
9) Invisible Hand is a great add-on that will help you find the lowest prices on anything that you're looking for.
10) LeechBlock is for blocking sites that could distract you or suck the life out of your day. It'll help keep you focused.
